Modern Meadow Remodel: Before & After Transformation – Pt. 1
March 11, 2025
You guys! We’ve had so much fun taking you inside our Modern Meadow Remodel on YouTube! If you haven’t watched the full tour yet, you can check it out HERE. But if you’re just here for the before-and-after photos (we get it, they’re so satisfying), keep scrolling!
If you’re anything like us, you go absolutely feral over a good transformation moment—and this one does not disappoint. We took an outdated mountain home and reimagined it as a modern family retreat, blending sleek finishes with organic textures for the ultimate mountain modern vibe. Join us for a room-by-room tour, complete with jaw-dropping before photos, to see just how far this home has come!

The Great Room
The great room saw some of the most dramatic transformations in this remodel. Originally, the fireplace featured heavy stone with dated inset cabinetry for the TV. While the stone had potential for a mountain home like this, the client wasn’t a fan. We replaced it with a stunning graphite marble fireplace and wood T&G paneling, instantly modernizing the space.
We also ditched the original carpet (which, for some reason, was inlaid into the tile in a very questionable way) and carried limestone flooring throughout, softening the space with a cozy area rug. While tile floors aren’t typically our go-to, the client didn’t want the hassle of replacing them with hardwood. So, we embraced it—and honestly? We love how it turned out. It’s proof that you don’t have to rip out every last detail to make a home feel fresh and updated.

The Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen, which started as the epitome of early 2000s French country design, got a complete facelift. Laura took everything down to the studs and rebuilt it from scratch. One thing the client wanted to keep? The double islands.
To add some contrast and interest, we waterfalled a stunning Blue Tahoe quartzite slab over the sides of the front island, while the back island kept a more traditional profile. White oak cabinetry, creamy zellige tile, and updated hardware brought in a modern feel while keeping the space warm and functional. Once again, we left the original limestone flooring—and honestly, it blends so seamlessly, you’d never guess it wasn’t part of the plan from the start.

The Library
The library fireplace got the same treatment as the great room—goodbye medieval castle vibes, hello graphite marble. Since both fireplaces are visible from the same perspective, the continuity adds a thoughtful, cohesive touch to the main space.
Our clients already owned a stunning jewel-blue velvet sofa and wanted to incorporate it here. We fully leaned into the moodiness, color-drenching the entire space in Inchyra Blue by Farrow & Ball to match the sofa and create a rich, dramatic atmosphere. The result? A library that feels equal parts sophisticated, cozy, and effortlessly cool.

The Powder Room
If you know us, you know we love a punchy powder room. It’s basically the first commandment of interior design: Thou shalt not suffer a dull powder room to exist.
Here, we gave the cabinetry a modern oak refresh and covered the walls in the iconic Belladonna wallcovering from Zak + Fox. It’s moody, edgy, and exactly the modern vibe our client loves—and this space needed.

The Primary Bedroom
The primary bedroom was one of the few spaces our client actually liked in the original house—and honestly, we get it. Those wood beams? So good. We, of course, kept them but gave the stain an update to freshen them up.
Our client found a Jenni Kayne inspiration photo she loved, which set the tone for the design. Soft, textural materials took center stage, from the creamy plaster walls (a serious upgrade from drywall) to the combed limestone fireplace, adding depth and warmth. She also had one specific request: a cozy spot to sip coffee and read in the morning. We made sure to carve out the perfect nook for her to do just that—she says it’s her favorite spot in the whole house. And with those mountain views? We don’t blame her.

The Primary Bathroom
The primary bathroom might just be one of our favorite transformations in this house. Laura pretty much changed everything in this space… except for one thing: the privacy glass in the shower window. Yep, the frosted forest scene stayed.
Would we choose it in a new build? Probably not. But we kept it for two reasons:
A. We didn’t replace any windows in this house.
B. It’s just SO charming.
When tackling a renovation, we always look for ways to preserve the little quirks that add character, charm, and a sense of history to a space. This was one of them—totally cute, totally functional, and honestly? We love it.
