April Musings
April 3, 2024
Hello, and welcome Spring!
It's that time of the month again! This month's musings consist of thoughtfully collected china, asparagus and snap peas, corner skiffers (What are those, you ask?? Only the easiest and cutest design detail ever), and a design trend we are currently DYING over.
We hope this post inspires you and helps you feel a little more excited about the changing seasons. Happy April!
Corner Skiffers
Are they necessary? No.
But they are practical, and they look so darn good! Corner skiffers are beautiful metal castings designed to prevent damage to skirting boards and wall corners. But, what we really love them for are their looks.
Interior design is all about the details, and it's little things like these corner skiffers that make a home feel so charming and lovingly lived-in.
You can find some cheaper options on Amazon, but we are particularly obsesed with these Olive Leaf Skiffers and Fern Leaf Skiffers.
Playful Molding Details
A recent trend we've been seeing and absolutely SWOONING over is adding painted or wallpapered borders and details to your crown molding and doorways. This is just such a fun way to add some color and give your space a somewhat eclectic energy.
You can get as creative and funky with this as your heart desires, the possibilities are pretty much endless... But the stripes might be our favorite so far.
Mismatched China
As a general trend, we feel like the design industry is moving away from "strategically curated" accessories and moving more towards "thoughtfully collected" treasures. Especially when it comes to dinnerware and china.
How many of us have inherited an incomplete china set from our parents or grandparents? Over the years, pieces can chip and break, and eventually, you are left with a few pieces here and there of a once-complete china collection.
Recently, we've seen some of our favorite design inspirations thrifting single china plates, and adding them to their existing collections. And we just LOVE this idea. The mismatched dinnerware sets are so charming and feel much more casual this way, making them easier to use on a day-to-day basis. We love mismatched china for whimsical outdoor garden parties or displayed on the walls as art.
Asparagus, Snap Peas, and Buratta Crostini
"If I had to play favorites, my two beloved spring ingredients would absolutely be snap peas and asparagus! These bright, crispy, and vibrant veggies are at the peak of their season right now, so that means adding them to almost every dish until they’re gone."
This asparagus, snap pea, and buratta crostini recipe is a hit every time. It's simple to prepare, light and fresh, but has a layer to complexity that makes it just soooo divine.
